Ondo Lawmakers impeach Deputy Governor, Olanusi
The journey has come to an end for embattled Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, as members of the State House of Assembly impeached him on Monday morning.
Mr. Olanusi ran into trouble with Governor Olusegun Mimiko after he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, two days before the Presidential and National Assembly elections last month.
The motion for his impeachment was moved by the majority leader, Ifedayo Akinsoyinu (Ondo West 11) and seconded by Olatunji Dauro from Owo 11. He was subsequently removed by 22 out of the 26 lawmakers, who supported the motion.
The lawmakers directed Mr. Olanusi to vacate the government lodge and return all government property in his possession to the permanent secretary in his office.
