EFCC Grants Ex-Gov. Ali Modu Sheriff Administrative Bail
A former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, who turned himself in at the Abuja headquarters of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday, has been granted bail.
According to PREMIUM TIMES, the former governor was granted an administrative bail Thursday evening.
The spokesperson for EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, who confirmed the development, said though Mr. Sheriff has been set free, “we can ask him to come back at any time we need him”.
Mr. Sheriff, who until Wednesday ignored previous invitations by the EFCC, voluntarily surrendered himself to answer allegations that parts of the N300billion his administration received from the Federation Account between 2003 and 2011 was mismanaged.
Meanwhile, no charges have been pressed against the ex-governor.
